Dear all, The old SDF forum software has run its course and we are opening a new and improved software solution. Those of you familiar with the www.DetroitYES.com forum will step right in. Our biggest challenge will be to have you recover your usernames and passwords. We were able to save the usernames, attached email addresses, and post counts. You will need to go through a simple two step process to obtain your password. As they were encrypted for your security, we could not migrate them over. Okay are you ready??  Check it out and start it up. It is now live! www.soulfuldetroit.com/forum.p hp The 'old' forum will pass away peacefully some time tonight or tomorrow. But Thursday its server will be deactivated. We will preserve everything written here, but all new posting will occur on the new forum. Links to the old forum will be set up. We may go offline periodically as we save the last remnants of discussion. Time marches on and we're here to help with the new start. | ||

Its too light! I like the dark mysterious look! I dont want to see who Im talking to!...waaaah waaah waaah! LOL... I already put in my request for the password change et al because Lowell wants to play around and change things up...lol..I dont remember which email address that I used but I specified clearly which one to use now. Ladyvanaye and Kevin, you can change the way the forum looks in your preferences. Once you are logged in, go to: Forum actions at the top of the page Go down to miscellaneous settings Choose what kind of skin you want. An even easier way is to just scroll down to the bottom of the main page and change it there. The option is on the left bottom of the screen. The new site even has an ignore feature. ...Soulster ...I don't see the option 'miscellaneous settings' in 'Forum actions' ...only 3 options are offered... ...Mark forums read ...General Settings ...and ...Edit profile ...the latter doesn't allow me to add/change anything ...just gives the message... You have to click on "General Settings, then go to the bottom of that page. And, again, all you really need to do is scroll down to the bottom of the main page and select the color in the lower left-hand corner. Ladies and gents, i've been using this software for many years. It's really easy once you get the hang of it. There are all sorts of features that are possible. The mods haven't enabled them all yet. I keep my passwords written down, so all I had to do is tell the system to email me with a new password. Once I did that, and entered the new password with my screenname, it all went smoothly. Then, you can always change your password back to what it was before. The mods can even add other color schemes. I don't dig the bright red or orange colors, and I don't like plain white. | ||

It posts ever so quickly now. I was amazed. Can we send photos now? Not sure where the spell-checker is yet. I liked that facility even if it did tell me that organise had a "z" and not an "s". Hopefully this any new spell checker will accept the word Velvelettes! | ||

Thanks Pshark. But it's still not working for me. I don't get boxes to type in my password or my screen/user name. Maybe my server is not compatible? I don't know. Lowell was kind enough to send me a diagram or illustration, but the page I get doesn't look like what he sent me. I don't have a log- in box or one to type in a password. I see others are having similar problems. It would be a shame to lose members because of technical issues. But this is not easy. Kam got frustrated and re-registered, slightly modifying his user name anf picking a new password. But if he doesn't get a log-in or password box... how is he going to use it? I was able to log in using the new user name and new password. I'm going to have to sit with Motown_fan and help him figure this out. Motown is not getting a log-in box at the top of the page. It's somewhere else. The pages still act a little funny. It's kind of slow. And I have to resize the page to see where I wanna go or my options. But hopefully, things will work out. Am I gonna lose my post count and my old screen name? | ||

You do not sign in [login] only when you post on the new forum. Instead you login at the top of the page where there is a username and password box. So when you post you just hit post and that's it. Here is what I sent Motown_fan, minus his password.  Let me stress the importance of checking the 'remember me?' box. Your logins will time out and you will have to continually login otherwise. Finally, THIS FORUM WILL PERMANENTLY SHUT DOWN 12 noon EST today. Links will be established to allow you to return and read all the past posts, but posting will not be enabled.
