I've ALWAYS loved this song !! The vocals are outstanding....but the arrangement is just killer. Love the break into the guitar and simple piano chords...then the build back to full band.

Those glee-club background vocals is what gives this song it's edge.

Fred McFarlane, Allen George were co-producers with Jocelyn on this track. Fred McFarlane released a rap version response version of the track by a guy named M.C. Count without Joycelyn's
knowledge and it pissed her off.

Whew!!! That song was the jam back in the day!!! The background vocals on that song are killer gospel vocals in the style of The Thomas Whitfield Singers. I just love singing along with the background vocals!

By complete coincidence i ran into Ms Brown in the most unusual circumstances recently, she is living next door to my Uncle in a very pleasant part of London.

When my Uncle told me on my last visit ( May ) I expressed pleasant surprise and told him that I'd bought the record that this thread is about and also been to a Jocelyn Brown concert many moons ago at Hammersmith Odeon.

He immediately called her ( she's a great neighbor he says ) and about five minutes later I received an autographed CD over the quite high fence - so to summarize I've heard her voice, thanked her and got her autograph without ever meeting her - I'm taking some flowers next time though.

She's still working and doing great by all accounts.

Great story DeWalt, rather nice of you to share.

Your story led me to this wonderful trove of information. Things I never knew about this fine singer. Hope you enjoy as well.

Great great interview...I think I'm going to have to put some Jocelyn on when I get home. I can definitely here the influence of Barbar Roy in her voice. I just asked a few weeks ago if that was Jocelyn singing "Touch & Go" only to find out that it was her aunt

As much as I like Somebody Else's Guy I went to a party once and that was all they played I got so tired of hearing it (must have been 20 times) that I never cared if I heard it again in life. Anyway I go to youtube and decide Ok I will listen to it and I was reminded of what I liked it so much before the party its an awesome record.

20 times ?! Yeah, that's indeed a bummer and no doubt a good reason to not listen to it again.
I must say that i rarely listen to that track anymore, such as other party-hits like Tom Browne's "Funkin For Jamaica",
and a few others. Had my share by hearing it too many times at parties or radio-shows
