Ellen has quit saying the workload is too much and she never felt right as an idol Judge. |

I saw this coming. I assume Ellen was spending too much time away from Portia. Kara DioGuardi has been fired too, according to news reports this morning. Only original judge Randy Jackson, who still has a contract, is remaining. He will be joined by two new judges, speculated to be Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler. But we will have to wait & see. After his strong showing last season, Harry Connick Jr. was said to be talking with Idol producers about joining the judges panel. Harry would have been good. He tells the truth. Sir Elton John was rumored to be negotiating to replace Simon Cowell. Sir is British and terribly bitchy. But Idol producers were looking to shake things up and make major changes after Cowell left. They need to bring back Paula Abul, before the whole show goes the way of The Supremes. |

I would like someone with more A&R involvement. Someone who has had to fight hard to make it in the music world. It was to his advantage that Simon had personal experience at the sharp end of the music business. |

Ellen added nothing to Idol. With Simon and Paula gone they need to cancel American Idol. It's become stale, predictable and unwatchable. |

I think SDF members should draft Martha Reeves to be a judge on American Idol. Since she no longer has an obligation to the Detroit City Council, she would make a perfect addition to the panel. She knows music and would certainly be a great addition to the show. I might watch it then as I currently do not because I detest Simon and his sarcastic mannerisms. |

I would agree with Jonc. The show should just end now. IMO, they jumped the shark when they added Kara. Letting Paula go was a big nail in the coffin. And now with Simon gone, it just seems like the coffin is closed. |

I'd love to see Martha on there, too. They should round out the panel with Carole King. |

I think they added Ellen for vieweship reasons but like Motownfan said I saw it coming too. I didnt think Ellen would be able to keep up with that schedule I mean its not like she needs the extra money. I think Whoopi would have been a great choice although she is not a singer. Someone like Tom Jones or Tony Bennett would have been good. Kara added nothing to that show and like the above poster said the show jumped the shark when Paula was let go. They ought to just close it down now. Good thing Ryan Seacrest has his other ventures his radio show, entertainment show, and commercials. I read somewhere he wants to retire early. Have the put the IDOL shows out on DVD? I was thinking they could syndicate them or have a show called Life After Idol...LOL Dancing with the Stars and Americas Got Talent will grab American Idol junkies. I wish they would bring back Hit Me Baby One More time it was nice to see some of the acts from the 80s on that show. Since UNSUNG and Life After and nostalgia shows do so well they need to put on a show on like the PBS shows and air some of the acts from the 50,60s and 70s. Here is who I would have on David Geddes - Run Joey Run Gallery - Its so Nice to be With you The guys who sing Brandy and Jimmy Loves Mary Anne (I cant think of their name OH Lighthouse) Billy Swan - I Can Help Tiffany - Singing her hits Debbie Gibson - Out of the Blue, Electric Youth and all of her hits The Rascals - Felix and the gang one last hurrah Supremes - Any incarnation at this point Emotions - All of their hits Shalamar - Without Jody cause she wont come (They were on Hit me Baby One More Time Sister Sledge - All of their Hits William DeVaughn - Be Thankful for what Youve Got. One week could be one hit wonders one week could be girl groups (Cookies, Ronettes, Dixie Cups, Shangrilas, Etc. I have tons of ideas! Another week could be metal week, there is so much to choose from. |

Stephanie, so far there have been a couple of IDOL compilations as well as one season finale released on dvd. There's a syndicated show AMERICAN IDOL REWIND that shows edited episodes along with current interviews from the contestants. |

Reese, I know about the IDOL Rewind I have seen it and believe it or not I like it. What I should have said about Life After Idol is see some of them going on tour or what they are doing now. Rewind is not bad but I would rather see one of them and a typical day as to whether or not they have gone back to their regular jobs or do they get club work or something like that. |

Let Clive Davis or Berry Gordy become judges... bring Jerry Wexler back from the dead...get some real music biz people in there besides Randy Jackson (I agree about Harry Connnick Jr....he'd make a good judge). Kevin Goins - KevGo |

I have the perfect solution to the Idol judges' "crisis", if you want to call it that, and it would be a HUGE boost to their ratings. Instead of having the same panel all season, have a different panel of celebrity judges each week, and better yet, don't announce in advance who is judging, so that more people will tune in. Think about it. It is the public vote that determines who stays and who goes, so the judges' comments are only to give the public food for thought, so what difference would it make if it were different people each week? It might even save the show money, because you know that most, if not all, celebs would be nowhere near as expensive as Simon or Paula were. Who knows some of them might do it for little or nothing just for the exposure and experience. |

I understand she only had a year to year contract. Her support of and flirtation last season with the marginally talented Casey James made her lack credibility and she looked silly. (Message edited by kamasu on July 31, 2010) |

American Idol needs to hire judges who recognize real talent, and appreciate people with talent and star potential. Last season's contestants were pitiful. Oh, they've also lowered the age for contestants to 15. You know what that means...a bunch of Justin Bieber clones! (Message edited by kamasu on July 31, 2010) |

they cant bring Paula back - sometimes she was slurring her words and almost nodding off.You shouldnt need drink or drugs if you get a cushy job like that - That last season with Paula she had clearly hit the bottle... |

Idol seems to be in it's sunset - if they cannot reinvent themselves. The level of contestants, last season was extremely low. However, a dazed Paula, with the doggy Randy, and a revolving guest judge or two weekly, could work. But, with truly talented contestants. |
