An ear worm is a song that sticks and never goes out of your head and that you hum all day until you've nearly gone crazy. Apparently, the only known cure is "another ear worm". Today I'm having one and it's part of the song, After All, which is remastered or remixed or both on Meet the Supremes. It is really sticking. Do you guys ever have ear worms? CBC Radio, this summer, is doing a series on ear worms. |

My ear worm has been Do You wanna Dance, both versions by Bobby Freeman and Bette Midler. |

Jobeterob - I call my condition 'musical tinnitus'. Today's song is 'Ride the Pony Girl' - The Moments. Hasn't left me all day because of that infectious bass line. (Message edited by ladyvanaye on July 29, 2010) |

I think I mentioned this before, but Abby Holms did a local blog in which she mentioned Beverly Bivens and We Five. I started doing some research on "folk-rock" groups with female leads for a possible blog of my own. So a month or so ago, I was in the recovery room after surgery and came around humming this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =Qelp01NwvTo I could swear I was singing a harmony part to something going on in my brain. Worse? The nurse, a sweet young thing, asked me what the song was. Maybe I'm getting too old. |

Don't Call Me Brother/O'Jays I played that song last night while my cousin rolled tamales and he called tonight to tell me he was comin' to pick them up. I thought about last night and now I can't get that song out of my head. |

Ladyvanaye.......I think you are a little more highbrow than many of us! Tinnitus vs. earworm! I bet you are related to the Ross's. Of course, I don't think Diana would even know what tinnitus is. But if After All doesn't leave my ear soon I'm gonna try rubbing alcohol. Another one is that Better Off Alone song by Alice B. or a name close to that. |

I've never heard of ear worms. Sounds disgusting and gives me the heebee-jeebees thinking about the term. I know I've had them, though. For about years since I've been transferring phonograph records to digital, I would have a particular song in my head from the album I'm working on at that time -- until I get to the next record. You get so familiar with every nuance, scrutinizing the recording, that one of songs can be stuck in your head for at least a day if not a week. |

That one surprised me; I better listen. I was expecting a Velvet earworm. Thinking about it, Solange and that Sandcastle Disco was an earworm. |

One earworm I've had over the years is Tom Tom Club's "Wordy Rappinghod". I do have a cure for earworm that works for me. Martha & Vandellas' "Dancing In the Street" instantly replaces the offending song in my brain, but doesn't hang about too long itself. |

Earworms like organic parasites are constantly in your aural system ,and they come to the surface via of all things ,songs that have samples and songs you hear on the radio or T.V. through advertisement ,etc. You find you get rid of them or send them back to remission, by going back to the original source ,(at least I do),and playing them ,at the next available time. My latest one was "Express Yourself" ,by Watts 103rd Street Band. Damned if I can remember the commercial ,but that song stayed in my head. |

I just got through doing a production of A Little Night Music so now I have three ear worms I can't get rid of: A Miller's Son, You Must Meet My Wife and Weekend in The Country. Funny how, Send In The Clowns was easy to get rid of.....OH NO!!! |
