Whoops I guess I should read the small print. It says that Evelyn "Champaign" King's "Shame" was his biggest hit. Interesting facts about the artists too offered on this EBAY collection |

glencro, let me ask you something. If you had in you possession photos of Jackie Wilson and Count Basie in the studio together, would you sell them and if so, how much? |

The photos are great, however, the photo of the Crystals is NOT from the 1960s as the auction claims. That photo is a press photo from 1980, with Dee Dee Kenniebrew being the original girl. I see the bids are quite high and I wonder if bidders realize it is NOT a 1960s photo. Anyway, it is a great photo that I've always liked and Dee Dee gave me one many years ago. |

Bridget and the Bridgettes! Who are some of these people. Nice to see Commander Cody in there with his group. I am not saying this guy is a con but its awfully strange that ALL of these pics have close to 2 and 3 bids on them. I hope he is not doing this from different emails to look impressive, some folks have been known to do that, Steph |

Timmy Funk, a photo with Jackie Wilson & Count Basie in the studio together would be a very rare find. As opposed to going the EBAY route, I would seek out a real collector or music institute (such as R&R Hall of Fame) that may be willing to spend some "real" money on a gem such as that. I would sell it but the price will have to be right |

I know which photo you're keeping an eye on LOL I bookmarked this guy's page a few weeks ago but the problem is all the big photo archivists on this planet are on it too... Although I've been collecting this kind of stuff for a couple of decades now, it seems that even though I do not underestimate the prices, they'e bidding on them like crazy... Have yoy tried to take a look on the completed auctions from this guys pages? You'll be surprised at some of the prices... |

And it won't be a big deal if I don't get it, since I have the full photo in a magazine. But I would love to have a hard copy of it. This guy won't have to worry about bills for a while. All of his completed listings are in green. |

I never heard of any T. Life. I wonder if the photo has an unknown (unidentified) person, and T. Life is the SOURCE of the photo, Time/Life, Corp.? |

Glencro: Theodore Life a.k.a. T Life was a producer back in the 70s. His guitar licks also appeared on a lot of Philly Classics on P.I.R . He started out with Raw Soul, which was fronted by Frankie Beverly. He was a member of Spiritual Concept. Along with Bunny Sigler, he also had a hand in songs by Instant Funk. He's written for The Intruders, Eddie Kendricks, The Ebonys & Carl Carlton. He also penned "Plain Old Fashioned Girl" & "Memories Are Here To Stay" by The Intruders. He was the force behind the great classic, "Shame" by Evelyn "Champagne" King & produced her 1978 debut LP "Smooth Talk", which contained another great dance track, "I Don't Know If It's Right". The LP also utilized the musical skills of Instant Funk & he produced her follow-up, 1979's "Music Box". He also produced for Phyllis Hyman's "Somewhere In My Lifetime" LP, Vickie Sue Robinson, Mystique, as well as one of my favorites of 1979, "I Can't Shake The Feeling" by The Beck Family. He became a recording artist in his own right, releasing the LP "That's Life" around 1978. |

Funny how the picture of The Floaters has James' address & home phone number on it. I imagine that 30 years later, neither are an issue |

P-Shark ;) I know what'cha mean! And that's exactly why I watermark EVERYTHING!!! Now, I trust you guys here to do the right thing, but I have seen a few of my pictures on the internet & someone made an Alicia Myers appreciation that contains my pictures with my watermark blurred. I started to send him/her a note thanking them for saving my pics & using them, but thought better of it. Still might make that post on their page anyways. It is kinda flattering. By the way...Who are The Cherries? Any info??? |

Yeah Juice I found a few of my scans on other forums. It really doesn't bother me but it would be nice to get some credit. But then again most of the scans I post are not my personal work. Btw, you do take some great pictures. Personally, I don't share any pics that's not from my scan. I keep those for my personal use. They gave away Parliament and Parlet photos back in 79 when they made an instore appearance promoting the Funk Festival that was held the next day. All 3 of the Parlet women autographed my photo. You can check those out here>http://myfunk.ning.com/photo/a lbums/oakland-funk-festival-au g-4 Click photos to enlarge |

Thanx for the info...T.LIfe is definitely someone to know. Regarding the collection, I'm very surprised this collection isn't watermarked. Those pics could be all over the net before you know it. Great site Pshark |

About watermarking I don't quite understand the point. If the item is to be sold who cares what you'll do with a half (or even smaller) size scan in low definition. That's why I always resize my pics before posting so that I am not giving away the 'whole' thang! Otherwise if it's on the net it's because someone put it and then it becomes public... As for Ebay sellers, what's the point of watermarking? The item they are selling WILL pass on to someone else when the auction is over. Why would you be afraid of having someone downloading that thumbnail (or a little bigger in the case of vintagenewsstand)? What have you got to lose? Anyway not everybody is interested at collecting all the photos on Ebay, and as I am there day in day out looking through this category and buying (a lot! LOL) I appreciate when the photos are shown (and described) in a way that helps me figure out exactly how much I want to bid. Alas the seller whom I have been in touch for a long time, has told me that this huge pile of pics he started out selling a few weeks ago, is gone... He was selling on behalf of someone who was the heir of that collection which belonged to a Baltimore promoter who passed away. Anyway it was great seeing photos of artists long forgotten or unknown. The week before he had some SHRINE artists pics up for sale and everybody knows how collectable this label is! |
