Like most music retailers these days, Record Time in Roseville, MI is experiencing tough times. II received this email from them today:

Since 1983 we've been committed to serving you the best we can and you've rewarded us with 27 great years in business. For that we thank all of you who have helped us achieve this milestone!

Right now we are struggling to continue to serve you as we wish we could as downloading and the economy have really impacted our business negatively.

The object is to be here for you, which means we must make some changes that we feel will accomplish that.

1. We will become primarily a used store.

We will not be able to carry many new releases but will gladly special order anything for you, be it a new release or anything else. We will still have a great selection of used Music and movies and collectables.

2. We will be buying more used.

There will be more used items than ever before as we will be increasing our used budget. As mentioned above, we will have lots more great used deals for you to take advantage of.

3. New hours of business effective July 29th.

Monday-Thurs 11-8

Friday 11-9

Saturday 10-9

Sunday 12-6

Thank you again for your business and understanding as we do our best to fight the good fight.

If you have any questions or input please contact us at sales@recordtime.com and send it to my attention.

I haven't been there in years... I never really liked their new location.

Is Car City Records still around? Is Nolan still there? Last I hear, he was having some health problems.

They closed the Ferndale location but the one on Gratiot is still there. I haven't been to Car City in about two years but the last time that I was there Nolan wasn't there. Wow, actually hadn't seen him in years but he was a walking music encyclopedia. Hopefully he is doing ok.

Car City is still there and I saw a blast on Facebook that Nolan stopped in to CC last week, no other information was given.

As for Record time, Mike is a great guy and the store is FILLED to the brim with records and Cds (as well as DVDS) some great bargins all the time.

Sadly I know I don't go as much as there is not really anything I need, but maybe I need to find something I need...LOL
