I think the Tams still work, though I am sure not
all original members are involved.

The Tams are big on the Beach Music Scene. I heard that Carl Fisher was getting up his version of the Vibrations a couple of years ago. They were supposed to have performed in Cape May, NJ around that same time but for some reason the show got cancelled.

John Gary Williams has his version of the Madlads but they are probably working mainly in the South.

I believe most members of the other groups are dead or retired but I'm sure someone on this site will have definitive information for you.

I secretly wish some form of those groups would go out on the Oldies Circuit Tour as I am bored with the usual groups that make up that tour.

Hi!

THE FANTASTIC FOUR -
I talked to Ralph Pruitt last time five years ago. Cleveland Horne and Sweet James Epps had passed in 2000, and the group was down to Paul Scott and Ralph & Joe Pruitt.

Ralph: "I've been working with some guys trying to get another Fantastic Four group going, because my brother Joseph is sick. He won't be able to join me, and I'm the only original member left."

"Seems like every time I get some guys together, something comes up and I'm back to square one."

"I was considering working with the group called Upscale, but they went with one of the guys that used to lead for the Contours."

"Then I met some more guys that I was trying to get ready, but then one or two of them had family problems and it kind of put an end to that, so now I got to start all over."

I haven't heard anything since,so I guess nothing has come out of it.

Best regards
Heikki

regarding the Mad lads...

Robert Phillips:passed away a few years ago

Julius Green:moved to Amsterdam and still performs at bars & Blues Fests.

William Brown:had a stroke a few years back and is unable to talk or do anything really.

John Gary Williams: Is still living in the Memphis area and him and his brother Richard made a new lineup of Mad Lads (who tour if booked).. They did record a new album in the early 2000's when William Brown was still able to record and the album is amazingly good! however it's never been released as of yet.

if you would like to check out the new lineup here's a pretty recent live video of them singing "Don't Have To Shop Around"..

That was great! Thanks Colton. One Madlads fan, here! Saw them at the Uptown with another lead singer because John was in the army at that time. This is the lineup I saw...

The Escorts have a website http://www.legendaryescorts.co m
I spoke to Reggie last month and he is doing much better after having some major surgery.

The Controllers still perform with LeNard, Reg and Ernest - I last spoke to LeNard a few months ago and he does DJ work.

The Persuasions still perform but without Jerry Lawson who left the group a few years ago. Jayotis, Jimmy and Joe (Toubo died many years ago) still sing.

Hope this helps.

The Hollidays, 4 Hollidays, New Hollidays.

I was trying to think of the group the Hollidays. I had contact with group leader James/Jimmy Holliday, he's currently lives in Jamaica. When I mentioned his stay his Chicago days, it was down-played, although Mr. Holliday did reveal later truths to the questions I had. I'll just leave it like that.

The Persuasions: Lead singer Jerry Lawson has a new A Cappella group. "Jerry Lawson & Talk of The Town" Jerry released a self produced CD with these guys and he claims it to be the masterpiece of his entire A Cappella career. He & his group will be all over Network TV this November through December. You can learn more and hear more at www.jerrylawson.biz

The remaining Persuasions are trying to carry on but it's like the Pips without Gladys or the Stones without Mick, Supremes without Diana??

Thank you Julie713 for Mr. Lawson's link. I remember the airing of the group with Rod Steward some time ago. Can someone help me with this question. Back in the early-mid 70's the group made a accapella lp I use to have. Can somebody tell me the name of the lp? It's been so long I forgotten the title of the groups lp.

Thank you Heikki for posting and link: Jimmy Dobbins or Jimmy Robbins I never would have guessed this was the guy that recorded for Bob Lee, til I was browsing down the screen of the SE link. I seen him at SoulTrip USA - Chicago, of last year. Wow, this is mind-blowing.

My favorite Bob Lee produced records have to be;

As Jimmy Dobbins - I Can't Please You (Jerhart)
The Kittens - Somebody New b/w Wait A Minute (Vick)
Dave & Ray (Cadwell) - Wrong, Wrong, Wrong (Mica)
Otis Bucsh - Can I Trust You? (VicK)
Charles Ferren - A Girl Like You (Jerhart)
The Major's - Say You'll Be Mine (Big Three)

DLM, I think you may be referring to this classic , I have the vinyl around here somewhere, an outstanding piece of acapella work. After this albums release I saw them at The Auditorium theatre and they brought the house down. Its funny because I clearly remember wearing a long velvet coat and platform shoes.......sheesh ! The next show I went to featured another seemingly forgotten group : The Chambers Brothers.....who were outstanding vocalists as well....

DLM,
I would suggest you do a Google search first, and type in to see if any of these groups have official websites,or try Wikipedia.

If you still can not find any info on those two sites, then I'm sure someone here on the forum can help.

GeeTee, I do use google. Google does have good info on what people wants to learn, of what is popular, which is easy to do-which is not a bad thing. I like to go deeper on info. When you got potatoes on a plate, but where is the meat that's served to go with it? No hard feelings, GeeTee.

None taken DLM. As I posted yesterday, I use both Google,Wikipedia, and I'll also see if a artist has a actual website, before posting.

(just food for thought) :-)
