mitchdaiku350, was that how the record was released commercially? If the "explosion" sound was intentional, then I'd say it was a supposed to be transitional sound effect (going from daytime to night time) and to bridge the two different songs to create a medley. Or perhaps it was added to the mp3 file discourage file sharing. |

Hey, EverythingsAlrightuptight! Thanks for your response. And I'm sorry that it is misleading how I put the two different songs in one file. To make an mp3 file, you have to stop recording it between the tracks, but the space was too scarce for me to do it. So it appears as if they were a medley. Actually they are not. I'm not sure if Richard Barrette was involved in the arrangement, but if so, where the heck did he get the idea? I'm curious about what inspired the one who thought it up. To me, the explosion seems as though she had been tired of him and finally had blown him away or she had bombed him with atomic weapon to disillusion him as she had warned him. As you said, it was quite amusing to place Stardust after this song so as to enjoy two different worlds. BTW, just call me Mitch or Daiku. Thanks for reading. |

Funny to notice a "traumatised"-puber experience, pops up 30, or some less, years later. Mid 70's when the ladies where scoring hit after hit, and I became a Huge fan, an album, as mentioned above ,was released with previous recorded songs, and I just HAD TO HAVE IT. Gosh, was I bumped out to notice my copy was not perfect, because one of the songs ended in a sqreeching stop at the end. The store selling me the album could, after close examination, not find anything wrong on the vinyl album. To prove him wrong, I ordered a new copy, spending another months allowance. Needless to say I own now 2 copies of the same album, still wondering what the ending of the song meant. Very glad to hear I am not the only one. Maybe Valerie can shed some light in this Mistery that kept some pubers then awake at night? |

Hey, Mitch. Just call me "Uptight." On your compilation LP, is there at least a "band" between the two tracks? (It would be a shiny gap between the two songs.) And the noise continues across the gap into the next tune? Crazy. What record company would okay such an effect? Maybe a more complete version of The Rose Garden exists on another 3D disc. |

First, Harry, thanks for sharing your experience with us. I can relate to similar experiences of mine, too. You're right about asking Valerie about it. And she might say,"It was Richard's idea..." And Uptight, I checked on the gap closely and it is there all right. But as you hear it from the MP3 file, the noise is not across Stardust. As soon as The Rose Garden comes to an end, Stardust starts. Your remark reminds me that some artists or producers use this style on purpose. I should've known that! Some interlace one song with another. On The Toast Of Love album, Sunrise fades out into A Toast Of Love, for example. Speaking of sound effects, what do you think about the noise of frogs on Stardust? To be sure, you can imagine the situation, but you might find yourself surrounded with lots of frogs singing gribit, gribit. How do you like that? Maybe Richard wanted Shiela to sing, sitting around a swamp or marsh. BTW, it is always surprising how arrangements turn one song into another. Here, Stop in Nevada with Valerie on lead.(single edit)http://www.zshare.net/audio/10 3336223d2b202a/ Original version by Billy Joel http://www.zshare.net/audio/10 96987037ac3ecf/ also covers by the dream girls singing WWISYA http://www.zshare.net/audio/10 230993f09ce8b6/ and Year Of Decison http://www.zshare.net/audio/10 22958674ca545f/ Enjoy. Thanx for reading. Mitch |

I can only agree with the above review and add that for me, seeing the Girls in Philly was an experience I will never forget. After following and knowing this magical group for the best part of 35 years now, to see them on their home turf was awe inspiring and making the trip over to the USA was worth every bone-aching second of the flights!! Both shows featured Philly hits and classic Degrees covers like the Philly and Marvin Gaye medleys - both huge favourites with so many people. Talk about a family affair with so many of the Ladies' relatives in attendance - and Original Degree Fayette Pinkney too, who was there on stage with Valerie, Helen and Cynthia after the shows to receive yet another award - a Commendation from the State of Pennsylvania for being the longest running Girl-Group of all time! Seeing the 4 stunning ladies on stage together, laughing and joking together, was a sight I will never forget - in fact, the entire evening and reception after is a memory, that for me, will last forever and ever. My trip over surprised many people -the Girls especially <smile> - but the quality and magic of that May evening in the City of Brotherly Love did not surprise me one little bit. Jeremy xxxx |

WoW, Jeremy, this is a great set of songs they did ! I REALLY HOPE when the ladies do our country that they change their setlist too with a couple of other songs. I sure can understand that 'Make It Easy' was a high point for U. Would be for me too. Question(s): did they include 'Ain't That Peculiar' in their medley ? Last but certainly not least: how's Cindy doing ? She's a lot on my mind. |

Thank you MOM and Jeremy for the names of the guys in the pix. I think it would be nice to put Fayette and the current lineup of the 3D together and let them collaborate on their hits and album cuts. Didn't Faye do her gig? |
