Very impressive all time staring five line-up Edafan I must admit. How about Oscar Robertson, Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlin, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, & Magic Johnson? Bill Russell had multi-All-Stars on his team (his many championships were valid!). The "Big O" had numbers which equals &/or surpasses Larry Bird, who had 3 All-Stars as his supporting cast. It's all good conversation. I saw Wilt vs. Zelmo Beatty. As great as Zelmo was, Wilt, whom I consider the best ever, toyed with him. Thedream |

I must admit before the 90's I had Oscar and Jerry West the second 5 is much harder and time does dim memories. In 1964 I walked into the all-star game in Boston, along side Pettit and I believe Heinsohn. My 5 has people who really changed the game. I saw the Celtics before Russell, and to me the last championship with all the old guys beating the young Lakers was the best other than the first one. This Celtics team reminds me so much of the 1969 Celtics, being old old old. Please don't call me a racist, but when I saw Pierce for his first 3 years, I called him a black Havlicek with more skills. (only to my friends) I could not stand Antionne Walker's game. With his skill set he should have done much much more. In basketball, I really loved the 80's with the Lakers( the team of the 80's), the Celtics, the 76'ers, the young Bulls and the emerging Pistons. Once during a timeout because a referee had got knocked out, at a game against Dr. J and the 76'ers, I picked up my young son, and I walked right behind the 76'ers bench. Bobby Jones and the 76'ers talked to him Dr J and all the others were great to him. and later on, the best superstar with the kids before a game was Charles Barkley. He was warming up and the kids were asking him to sign. He said to the pack, go sit over there, and he did come over and sit with them for 15 minutes and really made them feel great. edafan |

Larry, I have it on vinyl and cassette. Have not been able to find it on CD. It was a good "live" album on the Mercury label. |

That's ok Red. Me and Michelle will just go shopping to forget our loss! Let's see, the Lakers have now won 16 championships and Boston has 17. I'll consider the Lakers worthy when they pass the 17 mark |

Russell, Do you guys ever get out to the Pacific Northwest for shows? We have some large casinos out here that have cranked up the soul circuit that wasn't there when I was growing up. I know this isn't a large soul music area, but the shows I've been to have sold out. I hope you consider coming to the Northwest. You've probably already been out here and I missed you. Anyway, keep me posted. Thanks! Tim (tsull) |

Hey Everyone, hope you enjoyed the 4th as much as I and hope u guys were anywhere else but the East Coast during that 100 plus wave that hit right after that. I saw a thread about SDF and influence yesterday, and it reminded me that I was remiss in sharing this little tidbit. Without getting into the history, you guys know how much my oldest grand daughter is a humongous fan and also loves "aunt Flo" to death. To that end, inspired by Flo's stories of running and of her past track days, PrincessD tried out for Track and Field this past spring at her school, forgoing basketball. She did quite well in the shotput, number 1 for age, but fell short in the Track events....she was only considered an alternate when they had their one and only big meet. PrincessD would never be confused with a speed demon....however, because she worked so hard to make the team...and to make me and you guys proud....she made Huge Strides in her sprint speed. And for a person who often needs prodding to practice, I was impressed the few times I saw her working out with the team, by her dedication. She's still taking her "screaming" lessons and looks forward to seeing All of you when you pass this way again. I just posted my first clip to you tube, and hope to post a couple of her soon...including the infamous Golden Sisters Movie/Play Take care and all the best. |

Destruction, The SDF threads influence all of us in many ways. All of us are glad to hear about the success of Princess D. Hard work and dedication is the key to life and she's really on the right "track." We all wish her much success in the future. For me and TNS, the SDF threads are always an informative and eye-opening experience. There is so much music and life experience here it's mid-boggling. I thank Ralph for asking me to join a few years ago. I am a better person for it. We hope to be coming your way soon. I'll let you know when it's a done deal. Ms. Flo sends her best and we hope the family is doing well. Take care |

Mr. Thompkins I don't know if you've addressed this question. I apologize if you have. What was it like working with Teddy Randazzo? Your voice is so great on the songs on the albums In Fashion and Love Spell. Beautiful albums! I wish Love Spell was on cd. In Fashion is fortunately on cd. The songs; California Sun, I Can't Stop Livin', Sail Away, Broken Wing, and I Won't Forget To Tell You I Love You are fantastic. |
